Region: Adescas
City: Mansilla de las Mulas

Historical facts:

Recinto amurallado de Mansilla

It dates back to the 12th century, a time when Fernando II repopulated the town. The walls are made of bonded lime and edge and rounded off with battlements. There are watchtowers every 40 meters (141 ft), which led up to a previous wall that no longer exists.

Large wall fragments, several battlement towers and one of the four gates (Santa María’s) are still preserved. It is the best medieval fortification work in the province of León.
