The Monastery of San Pedro de Montes is from the 7th century. It was founded by Saint Fructuoso with the dedication of Saint Peter and Saint Paul and Saint Valerius, who continued the works. Saint Gennadius rebuilt it again. With the Benedictine Order, the monastery reached its peak.
Its style is not defined, Hispanic-Visigothic, combining pre-Romanesque and Romanesque constantly. We can admire the Romanesque in the tower, in the cloister´s ruins, in the façade of the church (18th), and the pre-Romanesque in the capitals.
