LAGO LA BAÑA (LA BAÑA LAKE)
Location: In the Southeast of the province of León. It is bounded by Zamora in the South and Orense in the West; at the confluence of The Sierra de la Cabrera (Cabrera Sierra) with The Sierra de Mina (Mina Sierra)
Protection: Natural Monument since 1990
LANDSCAPE
Worthy of note is the moraine made of slate slabs that close a lake with pristine and shallow waters. The lake is surrounded by a glacial cirque of slate and quartzite, which feeds a pond downstream.
There are waterfalls in vertical walls, torrents coming from snowcaps, great variety of flora and wildlife and U valleys, surrounded by mountains. All of them are some of the enchantments of this region.
FLORA
Turckey oak, birch, yew, holly, serval, cranberry, broom, heather, ferns…
FAUNA
Roe deer, Rabbit, hare, wolf, fox, wild cat, otter, beech marten, partridge, partridge eagle, snake eagle, golden eagle, common buzzard, goshawk, salamander, newts, toads, frogs, lizards, ladders, snakes and trouts.
